Festival Overview

High Mountain Hay Fever Festival Association (HMHF) is a non-profit organization run by an incredible group of volunteers that work year-round to make the festival happen. Over its first nine years the festival has generated more than $300,000 for the Custer County Medical Center and has attracted nearly 28,000 fans.

An important measure of any festival’s success is how much performers like to play there and how much fans enjoy the event. We take great pride in treating both performers and attendees with the warm Wet Mountain Valley hospitality that we are known for. Many of our fans have been attending for years. Band leader Frank Ray of Cedar Hill had this to say about performing at HMHF “We had the pleasure of playing at the High Mountain Hay Fever Bluegrass Festival in Westcliffe, Colorado, which is nestled in a picturesque valley directly adjacent to the beautiful Sangre De Cristo range of the Great Rocky Mountains… the audience was definitely one of the best and most appreciative audiences I have ever played for, and the hospitality displayed by both the fans and the townspeople was second to none. I’ve seen few events that were so completely supported by the whole town.”

High Mountain Hay Fever has its own bluegrass band consisting of talented local wildlife. One of the wildlife band members is featured on each year’s t-shirts.
